The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is a federal agency that works hand-in-hand with the people of Rhode Island to improve and protect their soil, water and other natural resources. For decades, private landowners have voluntarily worked with NRCS specialists to prevent erosion, improve water quality and promote sustainable agriculture.

RI Organization Directory
Total # of Organizations
This directory is under active development, and has environmental and adult education groups, state and local environmental agencies, commissions, etc., academic environmental entities, plus many libraries in Rhode Island. It is not yet complete, and in April 2016 lists almost 1,000 organizations.
Here are some hints for how names are arranged:
Academic organizations would be listed under a university name (Brown University, URI - for instance, Coastal Institute is under URI)
Some groups be listed under RI (state agencies, chapters of some associations)
Municipal departments are under the municipality name.
Nothing should be listed under "The" even if The is usually part of the name.
Some things alphabetize under a first name (e.g., Hunt House is under J for John Hunt House).
Some groups might be under Northeast or New England.
Some agencies may be under US (I haven't finished deciding how to list federal agencies consistently yet)
