Purpose: 'preserving the land in Foster, Rhode Island donated by Charles and Margery Borders known as “Borders Farm” as a working twentieth-century farm and a National Historic Preservation District. Every action must honor that trust, while balancing the good practical use of limited resources.

The Island Commons Initiative received funding from the New England Grassroots Environment Fund around 2015, and was fiscally sponsored by the Aquidneck Island Land Trust.

It is now combined with other groups and is called The Aquidneck Community Table.
