I began publicizing A Research Guide to Homelessness in RI January 2, 2023. However, it is still a work in progress, and as I find new information and receive feedback, it will be useful to have a place to record additions and changes. They will collect here.

This page is collecting webpages meant for people seeking help to find housing. It is not well organized yet - adding as I happen upon them. I think the outreach pages ought to be cleaned up and made as easy as possible for people in danger of becoming, or who already are, unhoused.

The latest federal plan is a good place to start on strategies for preventing people from becoming unhoused in the first place. For several years, more people become unhoused than are being rehoused, which perpetuates and exacerbates emergency-level response. See the plan:
US Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) has just published a new plan on December 19, 2022: ALL IN: The federal strategic plan to prevent and end homelessness. I have highlighted aspects of the plan on several pages of this guide and note some other resources that are on the USICH website here.
The following are programs arranged by federal agency that support local initiatives to prevent and end homelessness, published in the December 19, 2022 Strategic Plan, US Interagency Council on Honelessness: All In: Appendix B: Inventory of Targeted and Non-Targeted Federal Programs to Prevent and End Homelessness, pp.73-86. Much more information (data collection, key program offices, legislation, agency-specific initiatives) is in Appendix B.
MEMBERSHIP COMPARISON
The Providential Gardener website has begun compiling a research guide on Homelessness in Rhode Island. I am publicizing it for the first time January 2, 2023, although it still needs a lot of work. I'm releasing it now in the hope that this compilation will help state leaders sort out how the government and nonprofits can be well organized to deal with the homelessness crisis. There are some tangles that make it hard to understand this complex issue from what is currently published on the internet.

How much federal and state money goes to homelessness programs? How is it supposed to be spent? How is it distributed?
At the end of December 2022 I am beginning to collect references to funding. Not sure that every funding source is summarized in one place.
