Rhode Island has more than 45 municipal and private land trusts, protecting many hundreds of acres for wildlife and recreation. In recent years the RI Land Trust Council has coordinated special events sponsored by the individual land trusts to familiarize Rhode Islanders with their conservation areas. The 2016 "Kickoff" is Friday, July 22, at Wolf Hill in Smithfield, where a plane crashed during World War II. This evening’s walk will also count as a Great Outdoors Pursuit ‘Pop-Up Event’ for anyone playing RI DEM’s 2016 Pursuit. Be sure to bring your game card to collect your participation sticker.
