Save the Bay Exploration Center Reopens ~ July 27, 2013

Good news! The havoc Hurricane Sandy caused last year severely damaged electrical and filtration systems at Save the Bay's Exploration Center and Aquarium in Newport, but now the Center is reopening Saturday, July 27, 2013. This is thanks to the work of STB staff, interns and volunteers, and donations from John Haly, co-owner of Portsmouth-based BioProcess H2O, who designed and installed a new filtration system at cost; from Schneider Electric, which provided hundreds of staff volunteer hours cleaning, scraping and painting; and from Jamie Murdock of Hayward Pumps, who secured thousands of dollars in aquarium equipment and provided free professional consultation on the reconstruction of the aquariums.

Visitors will also see dogfish sharks and other marine life contributed by RI Department of Environmental Management and local fishermen. Many other Rhode Islanders also continue to support Save the Bay so we can enjoy this educational resource at Third Beach.

For hours, directions, and admission information see Save the Bay's website

STB is looking for volunteers to help at the Center. Contact July Lewis at jlewis@savebay.org
