RI Food Center at URI

"The Rhode Island Food Center at URI is a resource center where members of the Rhode Island food system can seek answers, find partners, create innovations, and educate consumers. The Center is a program of URI’s College of the Environment and Life Sciences (CELS) in partnership the URI College of Business and the URI Business Engagement Center."

Herring Alliance

This alliance, organized through the Pew Charitable Trusts, is "a coalition of 109 organizations representing every coastal Atlantic state from Maine to North Carolina, to advocate for catch limits that account for the needs of predators, measures to reduce bycatch, and protections of critical feeding areas for predator fish, seabirds, and other marine wildlife from the impacts of the industrial herring fishery."

What Cheer Flower Farm

"Founded in 2017, What Cheer Flower Farm sits on 2.7 acres of former factory land in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, RI.  We are a 501c3 nonprofit with two full-time farmers on staff who, with support from volunteers, grow flowers on our land organically.

 

 "We don’t sell flowers – we give flowers away to the people who will benefit from them the most via partnerships with hospitals, food banks and other nonprofits in RI."   read more....

New England Fishery Management Council

"The New England Fishery Management Council, one of eight regional councils established by federal legislation in 1976, is charged with conserving and managing fishery resources from three to 200 miles off the coasts of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut"

The council also connects the fishing industry with information about the development of offshore wind projects.

Old Slater Mill Association

"The Old Slater Mill Association (OSMA) preserves and stewards the Slater Mill National Historic Landmark for the benefit of all. Recognized internationally as the birthplace  of the American Industrial Revolution, the museum celebrates innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit by engaging audiences in relevant cultural, historic, and artistic endeavors."

National Grid Energy Innovation Hub

Exhibits include information about energy savings tips, energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicles, connected solutions (demand response), and ways to reduce energy bills. Guests can sign up for a no-cost home energy assessment and learn about the impact their energy choices have on the ultimate goal of a clean energy future.

The Hub is open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm. By appointment on Thursday. Groups are welcome.
