August is Forest Pest Awareness Month
For the past few years, Rhode Island has been on the watch for invasive beetles that can destroy our native trees. The RI Department of Environmental Management again alerts all Rhode Islanders to look for the Asian Long Horned Beetle (ALB) during August, when it is most likely to be spotted. See the press release, which links to other information about this pest, which destroyed many trees in Worcester, MA, a few years ago.
