A Nation Park for the Blackstone Valley

The Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor needs our help to make a national park here a reality. A recent email brought a Legislative Alert, encouraging Rhode Islanders to ask the House Natural Resources Committee to support HR 706, which would create a National Historical Park in the Blackstone Valley.

The Senate National Resources Committee has reported out the same bill, but the House Committee needs to do the same so that this project can be realized. Apparently there is not widespread support in the House for national heritage areas these days, and house members may be misinformed about the importance of this issue.

Hearing from valley residents and other Rhode Islanders about why we support creating this park is thus vitally important. The Blackstone Valley Heritage Corridor has suggested talking points and other information about the proposal, which will both protect an important historical and natural resource in our state, and also contribute to our local economy.
